Ajit Mani
Ajit Mani (b.1947) is the Managing Director of Intervention (India)
Pvt. Ltd., the company he founded in 1992, to provide high quality
management services to clients engaged in Development activities.
He has an unusual breadth of professional experience, most of
it in rural India and the unorganised urban sector. Skills in
survey research and qualitative research methods, developed over
several field assignments are supported with creative problem
solving and communications capabilities.
He developed perspectives on poverty, survival, exploitation
and governance during an unemployed "Walkabout" period (1980-82),
when he lived with tribals in the Silent Valley, Palghat District,
Kerala, and fishermen in Pamban Island, Ramnad District,Tamilnadu.
A three year assignment as head of Social Marketing with a mainstream
Indian advertising agency, SISTA'S PRIVATE LIMITED, has provided
familiarity with the presentation and communication of Development
and Public Systems issues, in various situations and media.
Ajit Mani has assisted in the development of formal Strategic
Plans of several agencies including ActionAid, Oxfam, WWF-I, Family
Planning Association of India (FPAI), PLAN INTERNATIONAL, and
CRAFTS COUNCIL OF INDIA. He has also worked closely with several
Government agencies in social research and social communications
assignments.
Ajit Mani was a guest faculty at the Indian Institute of Management,
Bangalore (IIMB), for its "Customised Programme on Public Policy
Analysis for Indian Administrative Service Officers" (2000-2001).
His sessions were on "Public Systems Project Management", which
draws heavily on field experience and discusses issues in the
implementation of Public Policy. The Faculty Leader for this Programme
was Dr. N.Naganna.
